Log Cabin Bird House

Rustic bird house design. Make one with vintage materials for an authentic look.

Base, one - 3/4" x 6" x 8" pine
Logs, twelve - 3/4" x 3/4" x 4" long
Logs, twelve - 3/4" x 3/4" x 6" long
Front 3/4" x 1 x 8" long
Cabinet handle and knob
Metal for roof 7" x 10"
Two 3/4" wood roof support ends as per drawing
1 1/4" finish nails
Six 1" drywall screws
15" hanging wire
3/16" drill bit
1 1/4" drill bit


Instructions--

Nail front piece on base. Nail 6" log, 2 1/2" from end of base, two 4" logs lengthwise and 6" log across the back. Nail the rest of the logs per the picture.

Install roof ends. Form roof metal over roof ends and drill six 3/16" holes in roof metal in line with roof supports. Install metal using drywall screws.

Install hanging wire around diagonally opposite roof screws. Drill 1 1/4" hole 2 1/2" from base to center of hole.

Now you can watch the birds make a nest in their new home.
